The 12 hectare Pianrosso vineyard is entirely planted with old vines on limestone-rich soils. It can take a while to come round in the bottle, which is why I’m reviewing it again a year on as a Riserva-style bottling. Complex, still reductive and taut, it’s a focused, ageworthy Brunello with sappy, mouthwatering acidity, fine tannins and a lingering finish.
