Unus 2015

(a disparate blend from vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley): Bright, deep ruby to the rim. Captivating floral lift to the aromas of blackberry, black cherry, licorice, bitter chocolate and minerals. Supple, densely packed and impeccably balanced, displaying terrific concentration and savory minerality, not to mention juicy inner-mouth violet lift. This very precise wine exerts a light touch and finishes with firm, building, tongue-saturating tannins, a note of rose petal and terrific length. This struck me as even fresher than the 2014 version but a bit less ripe in its aromas. De la Mota aged the wine in "nearly 100% new oak" but likes to put a portion of the Malbec into second-use Taransaud barrels.
