The Legacy 2013

- 91 points -

The 2013 growing season was a good one with an early and warm spring, an early June flowering and a beautiful summer. The great growing conditions continued until mid-September when it cooled significantly. The Legacy blend is dominated by cabernet sauvignon (44 percent) in 2013, giving you an idea of the warmth of the year. Additional varieties include 27/13/13/3 of cabernet franc, malbec, merlot and petit verdot. Legacy is never a blockbuster red but a wine that is under control, offering a snapshot of the year from its savoury, sagebrush Okanagan garrigue, to its red and black fruits, and licorice, all in balance. Stylish, this has just enough structure to keep it all contained. The wine is aged 21 months in French oak and then 24 more months at the winery prior to release. Love this with a rare grilled T-bone steak.
