This year’s basic Molitor Pinot Blanc bottling – and “basic,” as usual, does the wine a disservice – weighs in at around 12% alcohol, but still evinces appealing lift to accompany its typical alliance of textural caress with juiciness and vivacity. Sweet corn and apple dominate on the nose and silken palate, while an almond undertone and an enlivening squeeze of grapefruit add charm en route to a refreshingly sustained finish. This won’t make you forget the amazing 2016, but is bound to prove delightfully versatile at table over the next several years.
