These are the first wines I have tasted from the new project Fiore is leading with his daughter, Sara, in Greve’s famed Lamole district. Based on what I have tasted so far, Jurji Fiore & Figlia is easily one of the most exciting and promising new projects in Tuscany.

Introducing Jurij Fiore & Figlia!

We have been looking forward to announcing this partnership. Jurij Fiore & Figlia is a father and daughter duo, making tiny plot vinifications in Lamole and their wines are now available in Alberta!

Jurij worked for years in Beaune and inspired by Burgundy speclializes in single block, elegant Chianti. Originally from Poggio Scalette in Greve, Jurij started restoring old vineyards in Lamole launching this project in 2015. Under 600 bottles made of each ‘micro area’.

100% Sangiovese from vineyards on the hillsides of Lamole. The sandy, silty vineyards are between 550 and 650 metres above sea level, facing west and south-west. The hand-picked grapes are fermented and aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.

100% Sangiovese from 50 year old vines in the Grospoli area of Lamole. The sandy, silty hillside vineyards are 600 metres above sea level and face west and south-west. The hand-picked grapes alcoholic fermentation is in stainless steel tanks with malolactic fermentation in 228 ltr pièce (Burgundy barrels). The wine is then aged in a mix of old and new 228 ltr pièce and stainless-steel tank for 19 months before bottling.

100% Sangiovese from 75 year old vines in the Le Masse area of Lamole. The sandy, silty hillside vineyards are 645 metres above sea level and face west and south-west. The hand-picked grapes alcoholic fermentation is in stainless steel tanks with malolactic fermentation in 228 ltr pièce (Burgundy barrels). The wine is then aged for 19 months in a mix of new and one year old 228 ltr pièce and stainless-steel tank before bottling.

About JURIJ FIORE & FIGLIA

Jurij Fiore is best known for the wines he has made alongside his father, Vittore, for years at the family’s Poggio Scalette property in the Greve village of Chianti Classico. Several years ago, Jurij started restoring old vineyards in the village of Lamole. Jurij is working with his daughter, Sara to produce an extremely limited amount of Chianti Classico. Jurij learned winemaking in Beaune and his love of Burgundy is reflected in his wines.
