Although this is packed with citrus, pear and white-peach aromas, it's so pure and straight that the simple description "fruity" would be far too one-sided to adequately describe what makes this wine stand out. So energetic that it feels much lighter than it really is (13% alcohol). Fine tannins at the finish underline the dry style.

The 2015 Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile is clear and intense but highly refined on the nose that perfectly blends mineral with concentrated lemon and smoky flavors. Round, concentrated and very elegant on the palate, this is a slightly sweeter than normal Riesling, but it is highly finessed, well-structured and perfectly salty with a long and tension-filled finish. Fine tannins reflect the limestone/marl terroir of the Geisberg Grand Cru with the southeast-facing Osterberg Grand Cru. The 2015 will not go on the market earlier than 2022.

Notes of petrol and pear are focused and intense on the nose. The palate is bright and lemony, with a silky smoothness. A long, puckery finish leaves a tingly sensation, as well as delicious notes of dill, fennel frond and eucalyptus. This wine is a bit of a slow burner and could easily keep aging, but there's plenty here to enjoy and discover now.

Lifted chamomile notes and hints of heady chamomile tincture hint at some development of this wine. The slender palate shimmers with vivid lemon freshness, notions of conifer and crushed herb, pleasantly bitter notes of pith and an uncompromising notion of hard, wet stone. This wine is extraordinary in its finesse and energy. The finish is bone dry. Drink until 2045.
