For decades before the village of Rasteau received AOC status in 2010, Domaine de Beaurenard was known for their Côtes du Rhône from this village for its incredible value. The critics opine that the Rasteau Les Argiles Bleues can compete qualitatively with a top Châteauneuf-du-Pape. We agree -- and it costs a lot less.
Farmed biodynamically with low yields, this Rasteau comprises of 80% grenache and 20% syrah from organic vines planted in clay-chalk soil with a blue-clay subsoil, on fully south-facing slopes and terraces.
Best to order this gem asap. 2019 was a great vintage in the Southern Rhône and only 400 cases were made, with a very limited amount available in BC.

October 2020
A smaller production cuvee, the 2019 Rasteau Les Argiles Bleues is more purple hued and has a primordial bouquet of blue fruits, scorched earth, new leather, lavender, and violets. A serious, full-bodied Rasteau, it stays in the focused, elegant style of the vintage yet packs plenty of muscle on the palate, has loads of structure, and a great finish.
