Celebrating Trialto's 25th Anniversary - Trimbach Library Offer

Continuing, on with our quarter century celebrations, sharing library wines of People, Place and Time, we’re highlighting a family-owned winery that has been making beautiful, benchmark Alsace wines for 13 generations, Maison F.E. Trimbach. Trimbach’s practice is to hold their wines several years prior to release; they only hit the market when the winery feel the wines are ready.

From 2008 and 2005, these wines below truly speak to the longevity of the iconic estate’s wines.

The Frédéric Emile Riesling Cuvée comes from two grands crus sites, Geisberg and Osterberg from vines approximately 45 years old. The marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone composition of the terroir produces a dry and powerful Riesling, with great minerality and acidity. The great vintages of Frédéric Emile mature for twenty years or more.

The Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre is produced only in the best years and comes from some of the estate’s best terroir. Keuper Marl-limestone soils lend the wine a full and powerful style.

This is another, rare opportunity to source aged wines of impeccable provenance.

Decanter, February 2018

This prestige cuvée is named after the man who started this Alsace wine dynasty, now in the hands of the 13th generation. Always a near-peerless Riesling, this new release is bone dry, structured and elegant, with savoury, nutty, autumnal notes and tangy citrus acidity. It's poised, powerful, complex and concentrated, with a seam of brisk yuzu-like acidity to complement the creamy nougat notes.

Wine Advocate, February 2008

Honey, rose petal, peony, sweet pea, bacon fat, and cinnamon in the nose of the 2005 Gewurztraminer Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre (incorporating Osterberg and Hunawihr fruit) lead to a rich yet rather firm palate with a “cool” chalky impression, its 15 grams of residual sugar practically neutralized by (for this grape) unusually high acidity and palpable extract. Refined, elegant, and deftly-balanced, this finishes with persistent juiciness, eloquent, enticing florality, and subtle spice.
