About this winery

The Marion Farm is a small family run property managed by Stefano Campedelli and his wife Nicoletta. The winery and vineyards are located in the Marcellise valley, outside the Classico zone, on the hills east of Verona and 100 metres above sea level. Production notes

The grapes are harvested between September and October. Part of the grapes are collected in boxes and then placed on plateaux in well-ventilated rooms, where they are partially dried for approx. 40 days. A second part is left hanging on the vines until it reaches super-ripeness, to be harvested, during the first ten days of October, and then pressed. After fermentation the wines obtained are aged separately in oak barrels for about 30 months and lastly blended and bottled.

Tasting notes

Ruby red colour with a hint of violet, the bouquet recalls small woodland fruits, cherries, perennial herbs with a hint of spices. A soft, round palate and a complex, persistent taste.

June 2023 (Vintage 2019)

Winemaker/owner Stefano Campedelli, a disciple of famous local enologist, Celestino Gaspari, produces a classically styled Valpolicella Superiore from his 22 hectares of vineyard at Marcellise, not far from the small town of San Martino Buon Albergo in Valpolicella Orientale. His 2019 is a pale cherry-garnet colour with a fragrant, almost floral nose, showing hints of spice, dried cherry and cranberry, and seasoned wood. Round and ripe with fresh, juicy red fruit flavours, the palate is balanced and poised. Elegant stuff with a long, lingering finish.
