Orange zest, more summer blossom and even saltiness take turns to dazzle in this aromatic marvel of a wine. A creamy element accentuates and unites the freshness of the aromatic strands.

The pure, delicate but ever so authentic scent of fragrant Muscat grapes rises from the glass. The palate is a joy: a feather-light, fragrant but intense experience of pure Muscat flavor. There is the textural tinge of lemon freshness and the uncompromising notion of stone on a dry, sprightly and utterly disarming palate of immense purity. What we are left with is a notion of fragrance and stone.

A very complex and structured wine for muscat, with aromas of star fruit, passion fruit,Thai basil and mandarin, plus a hint of youthful yeastiness. Great textural complexity considering this weighs in at just under 13% alcohol. Plenty of chalky drive through the long, expansive finish. From biodynamically grown grapes.

A flinty touch of promising reduction still hovers on the nose but cheeky floral and fruity hints of honeysuckle, jasmine and peach shimmer through. The palate unites all of these aromatic notions on a textured, layered and concentrated palate. The hints of honeysuckle spice are intensified by the ripe zestiness of Amalfi lemon and tangerine. The finish is dry and long, with ample refreshment from these gorgeous citrus notes. This is glorious now in its youthful exuberance but has the concentration, structure and fruit to age beautifully.

This super-racy, extremely vibrant dry muscat is a revelation for the underrated grape variety. More floral than grapey with very fine, chalky minerality running through the tightly wound, medium body. The finish is as refreshing as a mountain stream! From biodynamically grown grapes.

Fragrant yet tightly focused, this captures the grapey aspect of this grape, but also offers delightful mandarin, nectarine and blossom notes. Smoky, funky reduction still completely clouds this wine's nose. Underneath that, slight notions of honeysuckle and citrus can be discerned. The bone-dry palate speaks of rounded richness, despite its relative slenderness, but a core of lemony brightness bathes everything in freshness. Tender spice and citrus zestiness tingle on the long finish and promise future joy.

A fabulous dry muscat with dried papaya, mangos and limes. Full-bodied, round and creamy. Extremely long and flavorful. Dense and bright. Tangy. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Best in the world?

The Muscat grape variety ages beautifully, offering aromas of mint and bergamot. In its youth, however, like this 2019, it offers a very aromatic, very singular nose, so fresh and vibrant that it is not a simple matter to describe the aromas. On the palate it is pure and fresh, with a medium-bodied texture and a fruity finish. Drink this beauty in 5-10 years, not before.

The 2018 Muscat Goldert is exotic and beautifully perfumed, not as generous on the palate as the aromatics suggest. Jasmine, lime, mint and petrol emerge with a bit of coaxing. This is an especial dry, bracing style.

Made from a 90/10 mix of muscat d’Alsace and Ottonel, the Goldert Grand Cru is located north of the village of Gueberschwihr. It is a late-ripening, deep limestone, gently sloping hillside that faces east and the early morning sun. The terroir and site foster a slower ripening process, excellent acidity and healthier grapes at harvest. The Goldert is also a vineyard capable of resisting drought, useful given how warm it was in June and July. The ferment was slow but little sugar was left leaving an attractive mineral character mix with floral/fruity notes. The palate is fresh and dry with bits of palate floral, spicy, quince and light honey flavours sprinkled with citrus. Fresh and elegant – Humbrecht style.
