One of the noblest of Alsace grapes, it produces a full, heady, rich fruity style, often with a lushness of aftertaste. Its great depth is balanced by the crisp acidity that gives structure and longevity. A slight smokiness, combined with underlying delicacy, is a typical feature.
The selection of very ripe grapes allows this Pinot Gris « Réserve » to match wonderfully with exotic, asiatic and japanese food.
Superb with food, the Pinot Gris comes into its own with terrines, foie gras, smoked fish, fish in sauce (notably salmon) and white meats.

This is firm, tight and upright in the Trimbach house style, subtle and precise, though the 2012 has some extra flesh and weight, and a lightly tannic texture that will require a few more years in bottle to fully resolve. This should be a beauty in 2-3 years, or hold another decade or more. It would be hard to imagine a more consistent producer from anywhere in the world. Tasted February 2016. Value Rating: ***

Immediately reminds of 2008 and will go down a similar, slowly turning and evolving path. So purposed and direct though there is a slight elevation in residual sugar as compared to the four four beat four years ago. Pinot Gris of pears and operas, with some spice on the finish. This will aria into something lovely at the age of seven and beyond. Drink 2018-2022. Tasted February 2016.
