About this winery

Jurij Fiore is best known for the wines he has made alongside his father, Vittore, for years at the family’s Poggio Scalette property in the Greve village of Chianti Classico. Several years ago, Jurij started restoring old vineyards in Lamole, one of the newly appointed UGA’s (Unità Geografiche Aggiuntive, or Additional Geographical Units) in Chianti Classico. Lamole is 9km south of Greve and over 1100 ft higher in elevation. Jurij is working with his daughter, Sara to produce an extremely...

Production notes

100% Sangiovese from 50 year old vines in the Grospoli area of Lamole. The sandy, silty hillside vineyards are 600 metres above sea level and face west and south-west. The hand-picked grapes alcoholic fermentation is in stainless steel tanks with malolactic fermentation in 228 ltr pièce (Burgundy barrels). The wine is then aged in a mix of old and new 228 ltr pièce and stainless-steel tank for 19 months before bottling.

September 2023 (Vintage 2021)

Named after the Italian word for "point of view," the Jurij Fiore & Figlia 2021 Chianti Classico Lamole Puntodivista (with a mere 582 bottles made) is almost all Sangiovese with a tiny addition of complementary grapes. These are high-elevation vines at 600 meters above sea level on well-draining soils. These conditions help to underline the floral aspects of the wine and its elegance, especially in term of mineral definition and linearity. This bottle does name the village of Lamole on the front label.

Antonio Galloni, August 2023 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Chianti Classico PuntodiVista is laced with dark wild cherry, game, tobacco, incense, iron, dried herbs, leather and tobacco. It is another wine in this range with plenty of floral/savory complexity, but less in the way of overt fruit. I very much like the energy here.

Antonio Galloni, August 2023 (Vintage 2021)

The 2021 Chianti Classico PuntodiVista is a wild, savory wine. Dried herbs, leather, licorice, incense and scorched earth bring out that aspect of its personality. While the fruit is in the background, this rugged Chianti Classico is not especially forthcoming, but it has only recently been bottled.
