About this winery

Thibault Liger-Belair comes from a great winemaking family that has deep roots in Burgundy: he is a direct descendant of the Napoleonic General Louis Liger-Belair, who acquired the Chateau de Vosne in 1815 when he married Ludovie Marey, whose family had been Burgundy negociants since 1720. Youthful, passionate and always full of ideas, Thibault trained as an oenologist, but had his start in the wine industry as a wine buyer. He is also a former rugby player with a genuine 'down to earth'...

Product notes

Since the 2010 vintage this cuvée is a blend of different terroirs located on the Côte de Nuits: 1/3 comes from the vines of the domain in appellation Bourgogne located on the commune of Nuits Saint Georges on clay-silt soils. 2/3 comes from the vines of the appellation Bourgogne located in the commune of Chambolle-Musigny on clay-silt soils.

Production notes

Harvesting is manual with 20% whole clusters. 3 weeks of fermentation with a soft extraction. 25% of new barrels are used for an aging period of 15 months.

Tasting notes

This wine has raspberry and cranberry bouquet, floral with subtle vanilla notes emerging with time. The medium-bodied palate with a velvety texture offers sappy red fruit and the whole bunch lends freshness and a subtle pepperiness toward the finish.

October 2021 (Vintage 2020)

Plenty of plummy fruit, with a rewarding richness and density that lingers invitingly on the palate - definitely over-performing at the regional level. This delicious wine is produced from a blend of grapes from Nuits-St-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny. The grapes were fermented slowly over three weeks with 20% whole clusters before ageing for 15 months in cask (25% new).
