Août 2018

The 2017er Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett was harvested at 84-85° Oechsle from very old un-grafted vines in the Goldwingert part of the vineyard. It displays a most beautiful nose made of white flowers, whipped almond cream, vineyard peach, tangerine and candied grapefruit. The wine is very delicate and beautifully light-weighted on the palate, layers upon layers of smoke, grapefruit zest and spices add presence and complexity. This is a marvelous Kabinett in the making.

Octobre 2013

Made out of the coveted Goldwingert in the Himmelreich, this wines oozes quality, refinement and finesse. The aromatics are superbly light yet complex, wiht fine and pure flowers, elegant spices, white peach and a residual touch of wild yeasts. The wine is light, airy and juicy on the palate and offers fresh sappy vineyard peach and some dried spcies. The finish is incredibly long, fresh and pure. What a great Kabinett! 2017 - 2032

Juillet 2017

This Kabinett harvested at 82° Oechsle from very old un-grafted vines in the oldwingert part of the vineyard. It offers a gorgeous feel of creamy grapefruit, pear, star fruit, anise and fine herbs. The wine proves delicately creamy with nicely integrated acidity on the palate and leaves a superbly crisp and focused feel in the long and racy finish. While slightly Spätlese in style on the palate, the finish is definitively that of a crisp Kabinett.

Août 2019

The 2018er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett was harvested at 85° Oechsle and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (50 g/l). It offers a beautiful nose of pear, vineyard peach, spices and smoke. The wine proves rather elegant and playful on the nicely light-footed palate and leaves a crisp and playful feel of fresh fruits in the long and engaging finish.

Octobre 2014 (Millésime 2013)

"Made out of the coveted Goldwingert parcel, this has quite a superb aromatic profile which offers some yellow vineyard peach, flowers, infused smoke, earl grey tea and a touch of vanilla cream. The wine is juicy and offers intense flavors of peach and other juicy fruits, all wrapped into a most fresh and spicy structure. This is clearly Spätlese in style but, as such, is a superb wine."

David Schildknecht, Juin 2017

From the Goldwingert, high above Bernkastel and just upstream from Graach, this Kabinett lusciously conveys a lime-meringue-like compilation of bright citricity and airy buoyancy with underlying custardy richness. Hints of cassis and cherry lend an alluring, site-typical note, leading to a ringingly bright, succulently-sustained finish underlain by wet stone and suffused with saliva-liberating salinity. (As my palate and tasting note suggested, its analysis shows that this bottling is even higher in acidity than its fellow Richter Kabinetts.)

Janvier 2018

Grapefruit, lemon, and blueberry on the nose anticipate the bright, luscious abundance of fruit on a firm palate that practically quivers with energy, leading to a zesty, tangy, invigorating, refreshing finish underlain by wet stone and marked by piquancy and chew of fruit skins and peels. As with other Richter Himmelreich offerings, this originates in the Goldwingert, a distinctive site high above Bernkastel. The vines picked for this Kabinett are old and ungrafted, and the fruit came in at 83 Oechsle, which is at the upper margin for that Prädikat chez Richter.

Novembre 2020

The highest-acid (at nine grams) of any Richter 2018 (excluding TBAs), this smells of honeysuckle, pear preserves and candied grapefruit. Fresh apple, honeydew and grapefruit join in on the buoyant, silken palate for an at once cooling and animating effect. The wine finishes with luscious abandon and impressive sheer persistence, prominently sweet but saccharine.

Octobre 2016 (Millésime 2015)

This Kabinett comes from fruit out of the privileged Goldwingert sector harvested at 87° Oechsle. The wine offers a great nose of white peach, pear, flint stone and green herbs. A focused and fresh palate leads to a clean and fresh feel in the sharp and acidic finish. This backward effort still needs time to develop its goods but could then easily exceed our high expectations. 2025-2040

Juin 2022 (Millésime 2021)

The 2021er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett was made from fruit picked at 76° Oechsle on 80-year-old un-grafted vines and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (50 g/l). It presents a beautifully restrained, smoky, and herbal nose of anise, cardamom, mint, white peach, cassis, and dill. The wine proves superbly playful as some dynamic zest and minty notes give a great focused side to the wine. The racy finish is very pure and vibrating, with some high-pitched lime and yuzu flavors. This intense and racy Kabinett needs a couple of years to integrate its acidity and could well prove even better than anticipated at maturity.

Août 2022 (Millésime 2021)

The 2021 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett offers a clear, precise and pure, lovely slate-driven bouquet with citric fruit and some cassis and gooseberry aromas. Crystalline, linear and fresh on the palate, this is an elegant, lush and silky-textured, precise and almost sharp but also round and finely sweet Kabinett from the Himmelreich that shows red and black currant notes on the aftertaste. A gorgeous Kabinett that has to be aged for 10-15 years. Sourced from 80-year-old vines on pure gray slate. Bottled with a spectacular total acidity of 12 grams per liter, but you don't feel the grams of acidity; and believe me, it's serious but balanced by extract and almost 50 grams per liter of residual sugar. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022.
