Jurij Fiore is best known for the wines he has made alongside his father, Vittore, for years at the family’s Poggio Scalette property in the Greve village of Chianti Classico. A blend of Chardonnay, Trebbiano, Malvasia and Famoso from the Castelo area of Lamole. The sandy, silty hillside vineyards are 550 metres above sea level and face north. The hand-picked grapes are fermented in 228 itr pièce (Burgundy barrels) and aged in a mix of old and new 228 ltr pièce and stainless steel for 10 months before bottling.
The 2021 Lassù a Lamole is quite potent and savory in this vintage. Dried herbs, chamomile, tangerine peel, lemon confit and almond build nicely in the glass. Readers will find a complex mountain white with plenty of nuance, but a fruit profile that is very much in the background.

The 2022 Lassù a Lamole offers lemon oil, mint, jasmine and crushed rocks. A wild, eccentric white, the Lassù a Lamole is certainly compelling.
