Jurij Fiore is best known for the wines he has made alongside his father, Vittore, for years at the family’s Poggio Scalette property in the Greve village of Chianti Classico. 100% Sangiovese from 50 year old vines in the Grospoli area of Lamole. The sandy, silty hillside vineyards are 600 metres above sea level and face west and south-west. The hand-picked grapes alcoholic fermentation is in stainless steel tanks with malolactic fermentation in 228 ltr pièce (Burgundy barrels). The wine is then aged in a mix of old and new 228 ltr pièce and stainless-steel tank for 19 months before bottling.
The 2020 Chianti Classico PuntodiVista is laced with dark wild cherry, game, tobacco, incense, iron, dried herbs, leather and tobacco. It is another wine in this range with plenty of floral/savory complexity, but less in the way of overt fruit. I very much like the energy here.
