About this winery

Descending from an old French family that is established in the Netherlands since the 19th century, (where the V became a W) Joost and Miguela de Willebois are passionate about French culture, the medieval period and the Loire Valley. With their four sons, they have settled in Touraine since 1996 where they fell in love with the Loire Sauvignon Blanc. After successful professional careers spanning the globe, they now devote themselves fully to the expansion of J. de Villebois from their family...

Product notes

Pouilly-Fumé’s complexity originates from the various Pouilly-Fumé terroirs. Like nowhere in the world, the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety reveals its full potential thanks to the diverse terroirs of Pouilly. Thanks to rigorous work in the vineyard and the winery, J. de Villebois encapsulates the spirit of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation.

Tasting notes

Pale yellow-green color. The subtle nose reveals a combination of smoky and ripe fruit flavors. The palate is dominated by flavors of candied pineapple, peach, and mango. An elegant acidity supports the typical “smoky” flavors of Pouilly Fumé and completes this great wine. Delicious on its own or as an apéritif. Goes very well with oysters and lobster, rich seafood dishes, and goat cheeses

September 2022 (Vintage 2021)

Intense and pure on the nose with gooseberry, quince and green mango. Dry, fresh and nicely textured, with a mineral accent to the finish.

November 2021 (Vintage 2021)

Still very young, this rich wine has great spice and tense minerality. The deliciously fresh acidity will soften over the next few months to give attractive fruits and structure.
